Founded by Joan Michelman in 1974, Michelman Fine Art (MFA) is now a family business with expertise in Impressionist, Modern, and Post-War paintings, works on paper and sculpture. Working privately for 37 years, we have developed relationships and resources with an international network of collectors, scholars, galleries and museums around the world. In addition to the advisory and brokerage services we offer, we are actively seeking to acquire important works of art. Whether we are buying or selling, we are meticulous about the details of provenance, authenticity, condition, clear title and fair market value.

Joan Michelman began her career in New York as a private dealer and advisor in American Art from 1840 - 1940. She switched her focus to French Impressionism and Modern Art in the 1980s and was instrumental in building a number of important collections in the US. In 2003, her daughters Amy and Rebecca joined her. Since then the business has expanded to include Post-War American Art and selected works of Contemporary art. In May of 2011, MFA is opening a new exhibition space on Madison Avenue that will present an eclectic mix of early 20th century art through the present.
