It has been almost a month since launching NY Art Beat.
NY Art Beat is currently seeking volunteer Staff Writers and Photographers, as well as Editorial Assistants for NYABlog.

Since its launch in October 2004 in Tokyo with Tokyo Art Beat, the Art Beat Network has given voice to hundreds of venues and artists who had little or no coverage or presence in traditional media or on the web. We’ve published information about more than 20,000 events, creating an impressive record of art in Tokyo, the Kansai area in Japan, and now New York.

Offering event listings and reviews, the site is updated daily with more than 500 current & upcoming art events listed at any given moment. With the new venture of the NY Art Beat website, we are bringing on new contributors who would like to share their voice with the many who frequent NYABlog.

Staff Writers will be reviewing exhibits, profiling artists and doing the occasional interview.

Those interested in applying as Staff Writers should provide a 150-word writing sample. (This sample may be a complete short work or an excerpt of a larger piece. It should be in the style of the website, please spend time on NY Art Beat to get a good idea of what is expected.)

Staff Photographers will go to openings and photograph events throughout the month, as well as shooting the occasional artist’s portrait to run with an interview.

Those interested in applying as Staff Photographers should provide a link to their website portfolio. (Please do not attach any photographs to your email.)

Editorial Assistants must have experience with proofreading, transcription and copy-editing.

We will be meeting with all potential applicants over the next two weeks.

If you are interested in joining NY Art Beat, please email a short description of your interests, qualifications and availability to editorial@nyartbeat.com.
