Masaaki Miyasako imbues his Nihonga painting ‘Suite’ with unique symbolism connected to his life and message of conservation. A jazz musician in his youth, the white birds that streak across the scene are scores of musical notes. Below them, the figure of Mother Earth stretches out in the man-made fields of Bali. The river, which dissects her form, carries the melody along the composition like words from her lips.
