This event has ended.

Fridman Gallery presents Full Scale, Ukrainian multidisciplinary artist Lesia Khomenko’s first solo exhibition in the United States. Building upon Khomenko’s inclusion in the gallery’s seminal exhibition Women at War, which since summer 2022 has traveled from Fridman Gallery to several university museums around the country, the upcoming solo show is the artist’s first since officially joining the gallery’s program. Coinciding with Full Scale, Khomenko will also be the subject of her first U.S. solo institutional exhibition presented by the Ukrainian Museum in New York from April 27 – September 2, 2023.

After fleeing her war-torn home following the Russian invasion in February 2022, Khomenko began sourcing online images of Ukrainian soldiers’ selfies. Deliberately blurred and obscured to evade detection by Russian intelligence, these digital images have inspired much of Khomenko’s recent work, which sees the artist translating the scrambled faces through acrylic paint, deconstructing the narrative image, and transforming paintings into objects, installations, performances and videos.
