HESSE FLATOW presents simultaneous solo exhibitions with works by Fawn Krieger and Alina Tenser.

“Fawn Krieger and Alina Tenser are interdisciplinary artists whose practices are deeply indebted to performance of the fine art and punk varieties. At HESSE FLATOW both artists present sculptures that invite acts of transference. Krieger displays wall-mounted clay and concrete works entitled // that record the artist’s tactile impressions. Tenser shows two bodies of work: the Parentheses, consisting of three pairs of free-standing structures incorporating steel and satin ribbon into a single soft/hard surface, and the Containers for Utterances, a series of stacked clear plastic encasements holding concrete Cyrillic letters.” — Elizabeth Buhe

As part of an ongoing collaborative correspondence, musician and multimedia artist Anna Oxygen (AKA Anna Huff) has been 3D scanning Krieger’s sculptures and placing them into virtual 3D video sets to facilitate live performative encounters that span 2D to 3D to the astral plane and back again. In conjunction with Krieger’s exhibition, Anna Oxygen will be performing on March 12, 2022 at 4pm using scanned sculptures from the show as set, protagonist and active collaborators in a live and simultaneously mediated musical performance. More information to follow.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a publication featuring a conversation between the artists with art historian and writer Elizabeth Buhe.
