Monya Rowe Gallery presents a three-person exhibition titled Me, Myself and I featuring new paintings by Polina Barskaya, Aubrey Levinthal and Justin Liam O’Brien.

Me, Myself and I celebrates contradiction, anxiety, longing, joy, power and vulnerability. The three artists in the exhibition all look inward to their own personal lives to construct narratives. Finding complexity in the quotidian, each artist harnesses their psychological experiences to engender their work and create a space for personal significance. By exploring multidimensional notions of the self and autonomy, the works in the exhibition reveal a fundamentally universal experience.

Polina Barskaya (b. 1984, Cherkassy, Ukraine) received a MFA from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY and a BA from Hunter College, NY. In 2020 she was awarded an Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant. Her work was selected by Jerry Saltz of New York Magazine for the recent New American Paintings Northeast Edition (2020). Upcoming exhibitions include a solo exhibition at Monya Rowe Gallery in October 2021. Barskaya lives and works in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, NY.
