This event has ended.

Dena Schutzer’s fourth solo show at Bowery Gallery includes more than forty paintings that catch poignant moments of daily life in COVID-stricken NYC and Yonkers, NY.
A number of paintings depict the artist’s intimate moments with her ninety-year-old mother, scenes from inside a NYC high school, and Schutzer’s neighborhood in Yonkers, NY. Other paintings reflect her visceral reactions to the new gravity-defying luxury buildings crowding NYC’s west side.

Schutzer writes:
As the beat goes on, the looking goes on, the poetic moments go on, the oddities go on, the brushstrokes go on. Often what catches my eye and pulls me in is based on a moment when the serendipity of a human gesture, an intriguing juxtaposition, a detail that tells a larger story, or a visual rhythm align with each other in an unforced way.
