This event has ended.

On the occasion of our current exhibition IL LEE Paintings (extended through April 24, 2021), we present Untitled 978K, a never-before exhibited large-scale work on paper by Il Lee, for our inaugural BACK WALL initiative.

Untitled 978K is part of Lee’s 978 series of powerful drawings created in the late 1990s using ballpoint pen. Considered by many to be one of Lee’s most ambitious and important series of works, several “978” series works were prominently exhibited as part of Il Lee’s mid-career retrospective at the San Jose Museum of Art in 2007. Over the years, works from this series have been exhibited in various museums, including the Minneapolis Institute of Art, The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Korea, The Queens Museum, and The Crow Museum of Art in Dallas. Works from this series are also in prominent collections around the world.

BACK WALL is a series of small focused presentations at Art Projects International highlighting many rarely shown works and selections from critically-acclaimed projects or series.
