This event has ended.

Organized with Gary Nader

This expansive exhibition of Wifredo Lam’s paintings, works on paper, and rarely seen bronze sculptures traces the artist’s career from the late 1930s to the 1970s, exploring the influence of Lam’s Chinese and Congolese-Iberian heritage in his art.

The Cuban artist, who early in his career associated with major figures in the European avant-garde, cultivated a practice that he considered “an act of decolonization not in a physical sense, but in a mental one.”
