Figureworks presents Michael Sorgatz latest series, The Geometry of Fortune. Michael has been exhibiting regularly at Figureworks since 2012 and with each new series he has kept his focus to the figure in landscapes.

This series is no exception, yet it comes with a fresh departure. His approach is with bold, bright solids and, though there are signature broken areas where the figures get lost in the landscape, he has defined them more linearly, bringing them to the foreground.

Frequently relying on his daily encounter with the masses in NYC, Michael has also dramatically reduced many of these figures to a solitary form in a more spacious horizon. This new body of work now feels less observational and more self reflective.
