Perrotin New York presents present The Unexpected Freedom of Chaos – a solo exhibition by New Delhi based artist Bharti Kher.

This exhibition surveys a new series of works by the artist composed of assembled smashed mirrors affixed with individually applied bindis. As a punctuation through nearly all of Kher’s major bodies of work for over twenty years, the bindis here become objects that heal and repair, functioning similarly to skin healing into a scar. Around twenty sculptures from the series “The Intermediaries” will also be presented in the show. These works build on Bharti Kher’s rigorous practice of repurposing found and collected objects. Both bodies of works begin with the act of a hammer. As Bharti Kher said, “I break things to know them better.”
