8TH FLOOR

Since the early 2000s, Gedi Sibony has used the discarded byproducts of industrial production as the basis for exploring the interplay between viewer, objects, and space. For his sixth show at Greene Naftali, The Terrace Theater, Sibony uses scrap wood, crates, and storage shelves from his studio to create a body of work over three intersecting spaces, formed out of the remnants of temporary exhibition walls at the gallery. The exhibition includes a series of wooden sculptures arranged in rows and reminiscent of worktables or desks, whose dioramic spaces present simple shapes that together reveal a strange logic and unfolding visual complexity. These are presented alongside new freestanding sculptures and wall-based works.
