Company Gallery presents Tissue at the gallery’s two locations, 88 Eldridge Street & 73 Allen Street.

A.K. Burns (b. 1975, Capitola, CA) is an interdisciplinary artist focused on the body as a site of social and political agitation, who uses video, installation, sculpture, drawing and collaboration to query the space between materiality and language. Recent solo exhibitions include Survivor’s Remorse at Harvard Art Museums (2018), Fault Lines, Callicoon Fine Arts, New York, Shabby but Thriving, New Museum, New York (both 2017), Portland Institute for Contemporary Art, Oregon (2016), Participant Inc., New York, (2015). Upcoming solo exhibitions include the Julia Stoschek Collection, Düsseldorf, Germany. Awards and honors include the 2016–17 Radcliffe Fellow at Harvard University and the Creative Capital Foundation Visual Arts Award in 2015. Her work can be found in several public collections including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and Los Angeles County Museum of Art, California. Burns lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.

Dachi Cole (b. Oxon Hill , Maryland) is a mixed media artist. Her work uses collage, sculpture, sound, illustration, and textile as a tool or tuning fork to form and unravel the vast subconscious plane. Inspired often by the talismans of childhood, she uses found objects and textile to inform what she calls the crossover: How we get to one end from the other. Dachi is a member of the HDYSIA? collective and has exhibited in group exhibitions with the collective in NO HUMANS INVOLVED at the Witte de With: Center for Contemporary Art, in Rotterdam, Netherlands (2015) and The 2014 Whitney Biennial with Good Stock on the Dimension Floor: An Opera. Dachi has recently exhibited at Condo NY, Lomex with Arcadia Misa (2018), and MoltherCulture (2017). She currently lives and works in New York City.

Hannah Levy (b. 1991, New York) excerpts and liberates everyday forms often associated with body interface—handrails, produce, garments, industrial packaging, medical devices—from their usual contexts and functions, to make that which is familiar, nearly to the point of invisibility, deeply strange and magnetic. Recent exhibitions include C L E A R I N G, New York (solo), and Mother’s Tankstation, Dublin, Ireland (solo), The Yuz Museum, Shanghai, CN, David Zwirner, New York, the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humlebæk, DK, SCAD Museum of Art, Savannah (all 2018), MoMA PS1, New York, the Frankfurter Kunstverein, Frankfurt, , Palais de Tokyo, Paris, and the Museum Für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt (all 2017). Public collections include the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Humlebæk, DK, National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, Rubell Family Collection, Miami, Philara Foundation, Dusseldorf, G2 Kunsthalle, Leipzig, DE, and the Woods Museum, Beijing. Levy lives and works in New York.

Troy Michie (b. 1985, El Paso, TX) uses assemblage, collage, and décollage to visualize topography of the human form and the complexities of perception. Recent exhibitions include Fat Cat Came To Play, Company Gallery, New York (solo, 2017-2018), Trigger: Gender As A Tool And A Weapon, New Museum, New York (2017), James Baldwin/Jim Brown and the Children, The Artist’s Institute, New York, NY (2016), A Con-stellation, Studio Museum in Harlem, New York (2015), Outside the Lines: Rites of Spring, Contemporary Art Museum of Houston, Houston, TX (2013). Awards and residencies include Recess Art (2017), the Emerging Artist Grant, Rema Hort Man Foundation, and Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (both 2015). Michie received his MFA from Yale School of Art (2011) and his BFA from the University of Texas, El Paso (2009). He lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

Ser Serpas (b. 1995, Los Angeles) received her B.A. in visual arts at Columbia University (2017). Solo and two person exhibitions include you were created to be so young (self-harm and exercise), LUMA Westbau, Zurich, Bare Teeth, Queer Thoughts, (with Bri Williams), Queer Thoughts, New York (both 2018), and Dust Patterns, Current Projects, Miami (2017). Recent group exhibitions include Swiss Institute, New York, Gavin Brown’s enterprise, New York, Performance Space New York (all 2018); and Karma International, Los Angeles (2017). Serpas’ work is in public collections at the LUMA Foundation, Zurich and the Rubell Family Foundation, Miami, FL. She lives and works between New York and Los Angeles.

Linnéa Sjöberg’s (b. 1983, Strömsund, Sweden) recent projects can be described as performative research, embodying the subject of her interest to the point where no distinction can be made between her work and her persona. The remnants of her actions is documented through text, printed matters, sculptures and textile works. Recent exhibitions include Athens Biennale, Athens, GR, Art in a Synthetic Age, Moderna Museet, Stockholm (both 2018), and Jag har spytt tusen år av ord, Belenius, Stockholm (solo, 2017). Awards include Maria Bonnier Darlin Foundation Grant (2018). Upcoming exhibitions include Bonniers Konsthall, Stockholm (2019). She has an MA at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm (2010). Her work is included in the public collection at the Moderna Museet, Stockholm. Sjöberg lives and works in Berlin, Germany.

Sophie Stone (b. 1987, Massachusetts) received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design (2009). She has been featured in exhibitions at The Whitney Museum of Art, New York, Nina Johnson, Miami, M+B Los Angeles (all 2018), Redling Fine Art, Los Angeles (solo), Romeo, New York, James Fuentes (all 2017), Johannes Vogt, New York, Del Vaz Projects, Los Angeles, Shoot the Lobster, New York (all 2016), Eli Ping, New York (2013), and Nicole Klagsbrun, New York (2012). Sophie has been written about in Art News, Artforum, Artsy, Frieze Magazine, and Hyperallergic. Her work is a part of the Frédéric de Goldschmidt Rothschild collection as well as others. She lives and works in New York.
