This event has ended.

LMAKgallery presents Bill Albertini’s Summer Catalog, the latest installment in Pipe Dream System. The installation consists of a series of bronze sculptures that are installed on the walls and floor within the courtyard, creating a stark contrast of strange ornaments set against the urban NYC setting.
The bronze works are derived from a series of evolving modular components begun by the artist in 2016. Albertini has developed a virtual library of over 100 3D elements that he prints in plastic. He uses these printed parts to assemble prototype sculptures in a rapid intuitive process. He then edits these prototypes, selecting some which he then has 3D printed in bronze infused stainless steel, a sintering process that was primarily developed for the mining industry. The initial language of technology that is used to create these works and its translation into the material, leaves a visual trace and style which is important to Albertini.

The bridge between the virtual and technology has been translated to process by means of repetition, rules and systems yet constantly bending, mutating, and reconfiguring form and material to new means. This evolution is not of necessity but from subtle shift in rhythm and timing. Albertini employs new technologies to create works that merge a modernist emphasis on balanced composition, the temporality of minimalism, and hints of Rococo ornamentation.
Bill Albertini is a graduate of the Crawford College of Art, Cork, Ireland (1978) and the Yale School of Art (MFA 1982). He has had solo exhibitions at, amongst others, Martos Gallery, New York; Alona Kagan Gallery, New York; Temple Bar Galleries and Studios, Dublin; Althea Viafora Gallery, New York; and White Columns, New York. His work has been included in group exhibitions throughout the U.S. and Europe, including recent shows at the Dorsky Gallery Curatorial Projects, New York; LMAK Projects, New York; Theodore:Art, Brooklyn; and Grant Wahlquist Gallery, Portland. Albertini lives and works in New York.
