Onishi Gallery presents Super Natural, a stunning exhibition with contemporary artists Yigal Ozeri and Victoria Kovalenchikova. Both artists blur the line between what we observe in our surrounding and their own vision of nature that challenges the concept of reality. While Yigal Ozeri, the prolific artist within the photorealism movement, creates work that reflects the fleeting moment and encourages dialogue between subject and observer, Victoria Kovalenchikova conceives an ideal vision of the world, inviting the viewer to take part in her universe.

Ozeri utilizes the technology of modern photography to visualize his model in a natural environment. After the photography session, he blends his recollection of the model’s performance with the digital images, creating a photorealism painting that evokes the pure essence of the natural environment. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art (NY), The McNay Art Museum (TX), The Tel Aviv Museum of Art (Tel Aviv), The Albertina Museum (Vienna), the Museum of Modern Art (Haifa), The Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art (KS), The Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art (NY), The Frederick R. Weisman Foundation (LA), The Kennedy Center for the Arts (D.C.) and the New York Public Library (NY), among others. Ozeri lives and works in New York City, NY.

Absorbing information from traveling across the world, Kovalenchikova hopes to share her vision of our planet as a work of art —“a kaleidoscope of colors, a patchwork of patterns; an interconnected sphere without beginning or end.” Her Earth series is a call to action to recognize the mesmerizing beauty of the earth and save it from destruction. In contrast to Kovalenchikova’s earlier series focused on the intimate connection of life in the metropolis, this collection of work takes the viewer outside of their immediate surrounding, providing a different perspective to observe the world around us.
