This event has ended.

Figureworks presents Artem Mirolevich’s Book Thief. This intimate series repurposes antiquated book covers, maps and pages with a variety of mixed media including torn pages, thread, paint, pen and ink. This is a natural foundation for Artem to work from, as it marries his fanciful, narrative style to his obsession with historic and futuristic exploration.

Artem Mirolevich is trained as an illustrator, and his skill for extreme detail is present in all his works. Each piece is a tale of its own, a surrealist tale of otherworldly places and people in unusual compositions, where the artist’s imagination is completely set free.

Artem Mirolevich was born in 1976, in the city of Minsk, Belarus. At the age of 17, he moved to the USA and enrolled in the School of Visual Art in New York City. He was granted a full scholarship from the Department of Illustration and also spent a semester at Amsterdam’s Rietvield Art Academy as an exchange student. New York and Amsterdam’s cultural and architectural landscape continue to inspire his body of work. Artem participated in over 100 solo and group exhibitions in museums, galleries and art fairs all over the world. His works are in hundreds of private, foundation and museum collections.
