The Nippon Gallery at The Nippon Club presents “New Artist Unit Exhibition in New York - Energy of Japan”.

Do you remember “the GUTAI group” in the 1960’s? The group was highly acclaimed for its avant-garde movements not only in Japan but also overseas. After GUTAI, the movement has been carried on to many other groups and became the source of Japan’s abstract expressions.

NAU “New Artist Unit”, whose exhibition will be held at The Nippon Gallery this time, is one of them. Established by the artists who have rushed past the former avant-garde era, NAU currently holds the exhibition annually at The National Art Center in Roppongi, Tokyo.

Participating artists of this exhibition are established modern artists in Japan. Many of them are professional artists whose works are collected in the museum. Among them, there are university professors of Art and diversified artists who have won prizes of various competitions and keep attracting attention.

The exhibition features both two-dimensional works and three-dimensional works in the same place, allowing different energies to collide against each other. You will feel that “Japanese Art” has started to move in a wide variety of works at The Nippon Gallery.
