This event has ended.

Jeff Donaldson’s vision, “positivity for the people,” has come to life in his work from 1963 until his death in 2004. Donaldson’s legacy looms large, as a founder of AfriCOBRA, chair of the art department at Howard University, and Vice President of the Barnes Foundation, his accomplishments and creativity are limitless. Civil rights activist, artist, and scholar, Jeff’s work has been reborn through exhibitions like “Soul of a Nation”, “AfriCOBRA: Now”, and “Dig”, which shows the breadth and diversity of his practice, from watercolor to collage, and oil to acrylic. His political themes and meticulous execution result in unflinching beauty.

Jeff Donaldson’s work has been exhibited most recently at Tate Modern (London), Everson Museum (Syracuse, NY), Crystal Bridges (Bentonville, AR), Akron Art Museum (Akron, OH), MOCA North Miami (Miami, FL), and Brooklyn Museum (Brooklyn, NY). “Soul of a Nation” opens at The Broad in Los Angeles in March 2019.
