poster for “Edge of Abstraction” Exhibition

This event has ended.

Edge of Abstraction is a quantum leap into multiple futures, with work in various media from abstraction to abstracted representation. This is Lichtundfire’s 4-year anniversary commemorative exhibition.

Artists: Gretl Bauer, Leslie Ford, Augustus Goertz, Bobbie Moline-Kramer, Jung Lee, Alan Steele, Christopher Stout, Martin Weinstein, Gerald Wolfe, and Howard Ziff.

Concept by Lichtundfire’s gallery director Priska Juschka

Edge of Abstraction is based on the idea of an elliptic concept; whereby assuming all works in the show create and are lined on a fictitious closed curve, similar to points in geometry. The artists in this exhibition represent the range of work that has been shown since the gallery’s inception in November 2015. The gallery has focused on a visual program emphasizing nonrepresentational, conceptual, and abstract art, and especially minimal, color field, geometrical, straight edge, abstract expressionist, lyrical abstraction, and process work. Edge of Abstraction communicates an aesthetic that goes beyond its visual experience and intentionally into the realm of “thought or philosophy made manifest.” (A thought penned by artist and co-founder Augustus Goertz).

Lichtundfire was established with a program dedicated to developing and nurturing an active, engaged, progressive, and emancipated art community that addresses cultural and social realities as expressed through visual arts.
