This event has ended.

Through an installation and series of photographs, Andres J. Hoyos asks us to consider how fragile life can be under the immense pressure of immigration. Using the simple, easily recognizable symbols of the suitcase and the checkered plastic traveling bag, the artist creates work that reminds us how intense the sense of hope and how sharp the desperation might be for those who risk everything to undertake the journey.

Andres J. Hoyos is a Colombian-American artist living and working in Brooklyn. He has studied art in New York and Barcelona and primarily works in mixed media with found and recycled objects. The exploration of different mediums in his art raises awareness and invites conversations about what is happening in front of us and needs to be addressed like immigration, global warming & peace. Andres has participated in exhibitions in private and public galleries in the United States and Spain. His work is part of the private collection of the Colombian embassy in Washington D.C.
