This June, Baxter St at CCNY will host the 9th annual Zine & Photo Book Fair. The fair will take place at the 128 Baxter St. Project Space, with an installation in the backyard at the 126 Baxter St. main gallery.

For the 2019 Baxter St at CCNY Zine and Photo Book Fair entitled Green Zine and Photo Book Fair, the term “green” is used as an adjective to describe someone to be inexperienced, fresh, brand-new. Zines are typically published with a sense of urgency — originally as a method to subvert glossy mainstream publications, zines have now become an alternative method of disseminating information outside of the internet. This fair will feature a selection of firsts, or “green” zinemakers, and emerging publications by both established and first time independent publishers.

Landscape artist and activist Babbie Dunnington, in collaboration with a group of Teens, will produce the Green Reading Room as an attempt to foster independent publishing.

Paul John received his MFA in printmaking and his BA in Philosophy. He is a designer and the Risograph Studio Manager at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop where he also teaches. In addition to RBPMW he has taught and lectured on printmaking at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Art and Design, the Queens Museum of Art, IPCNY, Pioneer Works, and at many other institutions and venues. He is the co-founder of Endless Editions, a publishing and curatorial initiative whose mission is to produce and disseminate books and prints by underrepresented and emerging artists, and whose books are in the collections of many major museums. Endless Editions participates in all major art book fairs and organizes the annual Brooklyn Art Book Fair at McCarren Park Play Center.
