RUBBER FACTORY presents a solo exhibition of new work by Zoe Avery Nelson, titled The Measure of a Boi. In this series of paintings, Nelson explores their own corporeal relationship through rave culture and dance as expressions/liberations of the body. Spaces are often compartmentalized, bodies simultaneously whole and in pieces as if modular, reflecting notions of interior vs exterior self and fluid beings not fixed to binary traits. Lush colorscapes mesh lived scenes with idealized imaginaries, cumulatively reaching closer to the transcendent experiences of dance.
