Fergus McCaffrey presents a solo exhibition of paintings by Viennese artist Martha Jungwirth, marking the artist’s first solo exhibition in New York.

Featuring four bodies of work, the exhibition showcases Jungwirth’s distinct approach to abstraction and coloration. Her paintings convey tactile sensations through brushstrokes, splatters, drags, scribbles, scrapes, and pours. The works on view all engage with what the artist considers to be essential questions: “What do I do with reality?” and, “How do I render it in painting?” These moments of inspiration derive from a multiplicity of sources: impressions from her wide travels, faces and figures of her friends and companions, paintings from art history, stories from Greek mythology, and contemporary political events.
