KUSTERA PROJECTS presents On Paper, an exhibition of selected works on paper by artist Gloria Klein.

Gloria Klein is an abstract painter based in New York City. She was involved with the Pattern and Decoration Movement in the 1970s and was an active participant in the artists’ cooperative, Criss-Cross. Her rigorous and colorful geometric abstract works are based on her own mathematical system for dividing and organizing her canvases and systematically distributing colors to create stunning and detailed compositions. Klein uses this process to experiment with her palettes and compositions, creating intricate patterns that range from completely chaotic to highly structured configurations. The exhibition at Kustera Projects will feature a select group of works on paper from Klein’s vast body of intuitively geometric works.

Gloria Klein graduated from Hunter College in New York with a Master’s degree in Art in 1973. Her work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions for over 5 decades, at such venues as the legendary 112 Greene Street, Gallery 128, The Brooklyn Museum, PS 1, and The Aldrich Museum. She is a recipient of several honors and awards including the Pollack/Krasner Foundation and the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation. Her work was frequently featured in the avant-garde publication, Criss-Cross Art Communications, and was included in the feminist journal, Heresies: A Feminist Publication on Art & Politics. Her work is courtesy of David Richard Gallery in New York. Klein lives and works in Chinatown, New York City.
