Tennis Elbow at The Journal Gallery presents Jackie Saccoccio.
Jackie Saccoccio is a contemporary American abstract painter. Her large-scale works explore the formal language of painting through the process of layering and pouring pigment, resulting in digital-leaning spatial illusions. “The quartet of paintings that I’ll exhibit at The Journal were made/chosen specifically for their new Tribeca space. There’s something about the distance of the walls to one another that made me want to have works that bounced off one another in an antagonistic manner, like being in a dressing room and trying to catch your reflected reflection when there are opposing mirrors.”
Born in 1963 in Providence, RI, Saccoccio obtained her BFA there at the Rhode Island School of Design before receiving her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The artist has exhibited her work extensively, notably including exhibitions at Eleven Rivington in New York, the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City, and the Museo d’Arte Contemporanea in Genoa, among others. Saccoccio currently divides her time living and making work between Connecticut and New York
