This event has ended.

Transmitter presents Courtesy of, a spiritual sequel to an exhibition of ours from last summer titled Stop Making Sense. For the previous exhibition, each member of Transmitter brought an artist’s work to the gallery on the day of installation without informing one another what we were bringing, allowing oneself total freedom in choosing works to exhibit, while compelling curatorial cooperation to assemble a show out of unknown parts.

Courtesy of is another curatorial experiment; each member of Transmitter will bring artwork from their own personal collections to create this exhibition. It is our hope that the show not only reveals the inspirations, influences, and personal connections that have shaped our programming but that it will also inform, if not surprise, each other with the works we’ve permanently installed in our homes.

Transmitter is a collaborative curatorial initiative based out of Brooklyn New York, focusing on programming that is multidisciplinary, international and experimental. The gallery was founded in 2014 by Rob de Oude, Carl Gunhouse, Sara Jones, Rod Malin, Tom Marquet and Mel Prest. In 2015 Jen Hitchings joined the curatorial team, and in 2017 Kate Greenberg and Kirk Stoller joined the curatorial team.
