SARDINE presents a solo show of new work by Ryan Scails titled Another Now.

Another Now, in a different here, these rendered objects are rooted in the conscious of a parallel mind. Every millimeter of surface, density and thickness displays itself not as proposal but as preconceived truth. In that same place - batteries run on the conductivity of their very existence; they resonate wildly with the frequency of what’s possible. In Another Now, materials are routinely assembled, disassembled and processed all over again. In this other now, things are powered by the purity of invention and extant information is re-contextualized through drawing, sculpture and mixed media to work within a fluid materiality unabated by fear. Loosely inspired by the formal properties of glass vessels and instruments, this work represents the potential of ingenuity and the limitations that can hinder it.

In between shows Scails has also participated in residencies at MASS MoCA (MA) and A-Z West (CA). Scails received his BFA from Cooper Union in 2014. He lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
