The exhibition will feature 20 new works, including paintings, watercolors and prints by the three artists, engaging in a conversation on the symbols of nowadays culture and society bringing Pop Art to another level through different and unique approaches.

DysPOPia start a discussion around a new interpretation of the figurative painting, investigating contemporary techniques and fresh affairs, mixed with a hint of genuine urban culture.

This exhibition aims to reveal a new concept of figurative Pop-like art just born, and not yet precisely identified. Through the artistic output of 3 exceptionally gifted painters, the most craved icons and the latest trends of nowadays society, are depicted in an ambiguous way, scorned and praised at the same time. The use of esthetically brilliant and innovative techniques leads to a deep and ironic discussion about our society.

The link that associates these artists, besides the already mentioned interest for analyzing in a symbolic and ironic way the contemporary world and the frivolous icons of today’s popular culture, is a deep passion for Art History. Infact the inspiration comes from Bacon, Braque, Cezanne, Picasso, Rembrandt and Warhol, among the others masters, are clearly recognizable, not only in the techniques adopted but also un the subject used.

GR gallery invites the spectator to enjoy a visit into a colorful and visually pleasant journey throughout a symbolic museum that put together a collection of popular icons, historical moment, daily chronicle and art history, revised in a peculiar and unique way.

Belin (Spain, 1979)
Is well-known for his unique way of painting - an incredible mix between hyperrealism, surrealism and caricature characters. After a recent trip to Pablo Picasso’s birthplace however, his work has begun to adopt elements of cubism, now producing creative portraits in a style he’s dubbed postneocubism. His works are often based on popular characters, breaking up elements of their faces in order to recompose eyes, ears, and mouths into distorted configurations. Belin has already kept a wide curriculum, his pieces have been exposed all around Spain and countries like China, Germany, Hong Kong, U.K., Netherlands, Brasil, Israel, Mexico, USA. even he painted for brands like Dockers or Carhartt and tattoo artists like Kat von D from L.A. INK.

Tommaso Bet (Italy, 1980)
Combining the discipline of painting with the principles of graphic design and the scratchy texture evoked by etching technique, Bet began to conceive a mix of techniques that depicts his style. The scratched paint applied through the palette knife gives birth to large-scale portraits of young androgynous models, popular characters, imaginary creatures, symbols and idols put together in dramatic and, at the same time, ironic compositions, strongly influenced by today’s Pop culture and the 80’s cyberpunk movement. His work was exhibited in many museums and art galleries all over Europe.

Adam Lister (U.S. 1978) Is known for exploiting pop culture and famous art history through his pixelated executions. Combining the deconstructed and minimal aesthetic of pixelated graphics with the soft transparency of watercolor paint, the artist breaks down these classic images to their most elemental forms. Lister explores the relationship of nostalgia and mathematics, taking on subjects that hold a collective familiarity and reducing them to flat cubist-like compositions. He exhibited in art galleries and museums all around the U.S. and collaborated with brands like A Bathing Ape, Monoqi, WAVY, Geek-Art, LG Ultra.
