This event has ended.

Falling Uphill: Paintings includes recent works in oil on linen by Rosenthal, and also a group of some twenty-odd gouaches on paper in which the painter presents new themes and techniques. Cross-hatched, composed of arrays of mosaic-like strokes, the gouaches reflect Rosenthal’s recent stay of several months in Rome — classical columns, sometimes juxtaposed with a female figure of Diana of Ephesus.
In other gouaches, as well as in the oils, Rosenthal expands on her persistent themes from earlier work — the invented landscape with pensive figures, the compositions of simple shapes composing complex spatial dialogues. Often elongated, vertically or horizontally, the compositions echo mural painting, mosaic, and Asian landscape formats.

Poetry Reading: Peter Campion will read his poetry at the exhibition on Sunday, February 11 at 3 pm.
