This event has ended.

The series LOW ART corresponds with the exhibition “LOW&HIGH ART which was exhibited at the MOMA as a traveling exhibition. It was a “dialogue” between “high” art (Picasso, Miro, Seurat, etc.) and the streetwise or commercial “low” media of graffiti, caricature, comics and advertising. Popular culture has frequently served modern artists as an inspiration.

For this exhibition Inbal has chosen to work with published advertising in newspapers & magazines. She has applied “Deconstruction”, (Derida’s philosophy), to selected advertising in two modes. The first by was by soaking advertising pieces into paper mache done from recycled paper, and the second by photographing gentle shadows, created from advertising dizziness, on a white paper mache screen.

Choosing to deal with advertising, takes a position about consumption culture. Showing this series in NYC, the worldwide capital of capitalism makes it’s own statement.

Malka Inbal studied at Kamera Obscura Art School in
Tel-Aviv. She developed her own personal
technique using a silvery screen and later paper mache.
She exhibited in many solo exhibitions: among them at the ISRAELI MUSEUM OF PHOTOGRAPHY and at KOWASA gallery in Barcelona (Spain).

She has also taken part in many group exhibitions throughout the world, such as in the CITES DES ARTS Paris, the museum of “THE GREAT 4 MUSEUM” in Chongching, China and in NYC.

Her work is in public collections “TEL HAI PHOTOGRAPHY MUSEUM” and private collections VISION gallery – Jerusalem (Neil Folberg’s gallery) and others.
It is dicussed in academic lectures, professional and design magazines, newspapers and radio.
