Bowery Gallery present an exhibition of recent work by Maura Doern Danko, whose paintings combine personal motifs in diaristic still lifes and imagined scenarios.
Captured in loose, fluid brushstrokes, the objects in these paintings engage in purposeful yet elusive conversations. Books, figurines, and toys – strewn across a kitchen table – tell a story at once intimate and unknowable; a blue jay and a camper, while filling equal areas of canvas, go mysteriously separate ways.
