This event has ended.

New year, new shows! We have two solo exhibitions opening this Saturday, January 13th. Join us for the opening reception of Rudy Shepherd’s Everything in the Universe is My Brother and Theresa Ganz’s Wave Room, both curated by Gabriel de Guzman.

Rudy Shepherd
Everything in the Universe is My Brother

Rudy Shepherd’s solo exhibition features several bodies of work that are part of the artist’s ongoing investigation into the nature of evil. Portraits of criminals and victims, along with recently deceased celebrities, and paintings of violent news images attempt to capture our collective consciousness. Sculptures that resemble ritual objects for healing question the belief in art and the power of belief itself, while landscape paintings of revered mountains represent symbols of humankind’s journey toward a heightened form of spiritual awareness. In these varied works, Shepherd reveals all beings, objects, landscapes, and matter to be interconnected in the universe.

Theresa Ganz
Wave Room

Theresa Ganz’s Wave Room is a meditation on how humans cope when the social order is threatened by cataclysmic events such as natural disaster, war, or political crisis. Lining the walls of the space are digitally collaged, printed images of ancient Roman towns destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius; these are layered over with video projections of the storm surge from recent hurricanes. A soundtrack fills the room with electronically processed music from Wagner’s “Twilight of the Gods,” the final installment of the Ring Cycle. Through this immersive, multi-media installation, visitors experience a city lost at sea.
