Theodore:Art presents ON MESSAGE, an exhibition of work about the optics and visual experience of important social, political, and economic issues, both contemporaneous and historical.

Brian Dupont He received his MFA in Painting from Cornell University in 2000 and his BFA in Painting from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1996. He has had solo exhibitions at the Adah Rose Gallery in Kensington, Maryland, The Scene Gallery in New York City, The Soapbox Gallery in Brooklyn, New York, and the EBK gallery in Hartford, Connecticut. He has also exhibited at Brennan & Griffin Gallery and The Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center in New York City, Theodore : Art and Gallery 490 in Brooklyn, Crossing Art Gallery in Queens, Skydive Art Space in Houston, Glitch Gallery in Boston, the Reynolds Gallery in New Haven, The Galerie du Haut Pavee in Paris, and University of Wyoming Art Museum. He lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

Peter Krashes lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. He is a graduate of the University of Oxford (1987) and Middlebury College (1985). Solo exhibitions include The James Gallery, Graduate Center CUNY, New York, NY; University Galleries, Illinois State University, Normal, IL; Theodore: Art, Brooklyn, NY; Coop, Nashville, TN; Derek Eller Gallery, New York, NY; Momenta Art, Brooklyn, NY; and White Columns, New York, NY. Group exhibitions include He Xiangning Art Museum, Shenzhen, China; Elizabeth Dee Gallery, New York, NY; and Galerie Chez Valentin, Paris, France. He has taught in numerous places such as Cooper Union School of Art, Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and American University. Krashes is a recipient of a Marshall Scholarship and a Joan Mitchell Painters and Sculptors Grant. Reviews of his work have appeared in the New York Times, Time Out New York, Hyperallergic, and the New Yorker. For the last eleven years his community organizing has focused on a wide-range of issues in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn.

Elissa Levy was born in New York and attended the Rhode Island School of Design. She has had solo exhibitions at The Living Room, San Francisco, CA and Brooklyn Fireproof, Brooklyn, NY, and has had a two-person exhibition at Foley Gallery, NY. Her work is included in the Altoids Curiously Strong Collection, which is part of the New Museum of Contemporary Art, NY, permanent collection and has been exhibited at the New Museum, and the Luckman Center Gallery, Los Angeles, Consolidated Works, Seattle, Blue Star Arts Complex, San Antonio, Soo Visual, Minneapolis. She has also been included in group exhibitions at The Flag Art Foundation, NY, The Center for Contemporary Arts, Santa Fe, Field Projects, NY, Winkleman Gallery, NY, White Columns, NY, and G Fine Art, Washington, DC, NurtureArt, NY and Momenta Art, Brooklyn. She has participated in residencies at The Wassaic Project, Wassaic, NY, the Glenfiddich Artist in Residence Programme in the Scottish Highlands, and the Scottish Sculpture Workshop.

Andy Monk was born and raised in New York City, and currently lives and works in Kingston, NY. He has an MFA from the State University of New York at New Paltz. Andy’s work has long incorporated themes of home, place, and belonging and was very personal until taking a sharp political turn after the 2016 election. His most recent body of work focuses on societal structures, examining the American political apparatus and the manipulation of our electoral system. Andy has had solo exhibitions at AD Projects in New York City and at the InBetween Gallery in New Paltz, NY. His work has also been included in group exhibitions at Field Projects, NYC; Theodore:Art, Brooklyn, NY; The Bogart Salon, Brooklyn, NY; Momenta Art, Brooklyn, NY; The Art Society of Kingston, Kingston, NY; and Greenkill Gallery, Kingston, NY among others. Andy was a participating artist in the 2016 O+ Festival, and his work was included in the 2011 Foundation for Contemporary Arts Benefit Exhibition.

Andrew Witkin has had solo museum exhibitions at the Currier Museum of Art, Manchester, NH and the DeCordova Sculpture Park & Museum in Lincoln, MA. He has been in group shows at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, MA, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA, the Carpenter Center for Visual Arts at Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, as well as in numerous galleries. He has works in the permanent collections of Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston and the DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum. He is co-represented by Theodore:Art in Brooklyn and James Harris Gallery in Seattle, Washington where he had an exhibition in 2017. He has an upcoming solo exhibition opening January 25 at the University of New Hampshire Museum of Art. He is Director and Partner of Krakow Witkin Gallery, Boston, editor of the Sol LeWitt Catalogue Raisonné of Prints and of the forthcoming catalogue raisonnés of both Mel Bochner’s and Liliana Porter’s prints.
