Alchemy is a group exhibition of work by seven Brooklyn-based artists dedicated to using unconventional materials to create visually layered statements about the body, gender, race, the environment, the diasporic experience, and materiality itself. In these artists’ hands, ordinary matter undergoes a creative transformation, as materials are endowed with new meaning and the potential for illumination to be drawn out from the everyday is revealed.
