This event has ended.

This intimate 12ft. x 12ft. added exhibition space (FiveMyles repurposed garage) has shown remarkable work by underrepresented artists since 2015. The photographer/artist Nina Meledandri will exhibit recent paintings in the space throughout January. We are very pleased to present her work to the public. It is the artist’s first solo exhibition since 2001 in New York.

Meledandri is know for work that juxtaposes her photographs with her abstract paintings in a manner that gives both, the photographs and the paintings, a previously unseen and unthought of connection to each other. In this exhibition, however, she will only show paintings made during 2017, a year of changes and challenges. During this time Meledandri’s work in the studio shifted dramatically. She started painting in a much larger format and focused on the pleasure and the expression of color, both as perceived by the viewer and as given by the artist. Engagement with these paintings is a visceral one: through color and the manipulation of surface the artist makes the unseen palpable for the viewer.

A native New Yorker, Nina Meledandri has shown extensively throughout the NY area.
