This event has ended.

Since the cave paintings of Lascaux, the color red has played a starring role in the story of art history. Through the centuries, it has conjured emotions such as love, lust, and rage, and served as a symbol of wealth, war, revolution, and religious sacrifice. Red is one of the most powerful tools in an artist’s color arsenal. Its presence ensures bold visual impact and guarantees our immediate attention.

Mnuchin Gallery presents Reds, an exhibition examining artists’ use of red from the postwar period to the present day. The exhibition will feature paintings and sculptures spanning six decades, from 1946 to 2006. Artists on view will include Josef Albers, Francis Bacon, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Louise Bourgeois, Alexander Calder, John Chamberlain, Willem de Kooning, Dan Flavin, Arshile Gorky, Mark Grotjahn, Philip Guston, Donald Judd, Ellsworth Kelly, Franz Kline, Jeff Koons, Yayoi Kusama, Glenn Ligon, Robert Motherwell, Cady Noland, Ad Reinhardt, Mark Rothko, Kazuo Shiraga, Cy Twombly, Andy Warhol, and Christopher Wool. The exhibition comprises masterworks on loan from museums, foundations, and private collections.
