This event has ended.

Half Gallery presents Quotidian, Hiejin Yoo’s first solo exhibition in New York. Quotidian, meaning of or occurring every day, reflects Hiejin’s practice of allowing the viewer to see behind their own curtains; daily activities, mundane tasks and peaceful moments alone or with a loved one.

Originally from South Korea, Hiejin Yoo received her MFA from UCLA this past spring. She recently was in group exhibitions at Paul Kasmin Gallery (SEED, curated by Yvonne Force) and Almine Rech Gallery, London. Yoo received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2014. She lives and works in Los Angeles.

“Too much to do today: the dracena
that’s outgrown its pot, a mountain
of bills to pay and nothing in the house
to eat. Too many clothes need washing
and the dog needs his shots.
It goes on and on, I say
to myself, no one around, and catch
myself saying it, a ball hit so straight
to your glove you’d have to be
blind not to catch it. And of course
I hope it does go on and on
Forever, the little pain,
the little pleasure, the sun
a blood orange in the sky”

- a selection from the poem Daily Life by Susan Wood
