This event has ended.

LMAKgallery opens the fall season with the group show Loin Avec Moi with works by Istvan Ist Huzjan, Alex Morrison and Kato Six. Working in different mediums: sculpture, installation, painting, ceramics, photography and drawing, each artist has a unique engagement with their visual narrative and ability to absorb the viewer to another “world” as the title Loin Avec Moi (Away With Me) suggests.

Istvan Ist Huzjan, born in 1981, in Ljubljana, Slovenia. With his work he delved into a conceptual artistic endeavor that has allowed him to extend his thought process from sculpture, installations, painting to even producing his own publishing house 21st Century Books. Huzjan’s interactive search has lead him to co-found various artist spaces such as Project Goleb in Amsterdam and Coffre Fort in Brussels. Huzjan recently completed his first overview show in Ljubljana and has previously shown at Project space of Galerija Gregor Podnar Berlin, Germany in Ljubljana, Slovenia; Ricou Gallery, Brussels, Belgium; Skuc Gallery, Ljubljana, Slovenia; Galerie Juliette Jongma, Amsterdam, the Netherlands and James Gallery, CUNY Graduate Center, New York, USA.

Alex Morrison, born in 1972, in Redruth, United Kingdom, engages pre-modern architecture and design history, incorporating moments from art deco, utopian architecture and interior design to inform his work. Morrison seeks to address the cultural persistence of ‘craft’ aesthetics and incorporates references to outmoded styles like Tudor revival to create a unique aesthetic. His work was recently featured at Independent Brussels with White Columns; L’inconnue, Montreal; Levy Delval Gallery, Brussels; Francois Ghebaly Gallery, Los Angeles; Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna and Museum Abteiberg, Munchengladbach, Germany.

Kato Six, born in 1986, in Brugge, Belgium. Her work has hovered between different mediums as she embraces photography, sculpture, drawing and installations, yet she molds them into a new existence. Playing off classic representation and found imagery of landscapes she grounds the utopic visions by reminding the viewer of the materials as she literally anchors them by their adopted abstract shape or confrontation with materials such as heavy rope and stones. Six was a participant at the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpure in Skowhegan, Maine and she completed a residency at Residency Unlimited in New York, she has shown her work at; Change-Change in Budapest, Hungary; c-o-m-p-o-s-i-t-e in Brussels, Belgium; Het Paviljoen in Ghent, Belgium; P///AKT in Amsterdam, the Netherlands; Vitrine Gallery in Basel, Switzerland and WIELS in Brussels, Belgium.
