This event has ended.

Fresh Window presents Gray & Tan, a solo exhibition of recent works by multi-disciplinary artist Fanny Allié. Allié uses urban spaces as a fertile playground where the observation of the human body and the place it occupies in society constitutes the matrix of her work.

In reference to the people commonly considered in the margin of society, the contours of her “Creatures” are often hand-embroidered on worn, found and recycled fabrics. By superimposing these human forms, the artist reveals their interactions in the public space and recreates a whole new landscape of movements, postures and attitudes, where each one finds its place in the representation.

If collage is one of the mediums used by the artist in order to recreate a narration between her characters, it becomes the main stake of the last collographic prints developed during her recent fellowship at The EFA Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop. Conceived as an increased variation of the simple technique of collage, Fanny Allié’s recent works stage fragments of life captured in the urban sphere by playing with the assemblage of different recycled materials (a sandwich package) or picked up (a star found on the street). The omnipresence of the human then drifts towards a slow abstraction of the body, where the fragmented being becomes the product of the city itself, thereby creating a collective mythology of the spaces we inhabit daily.
