Tenri Cultural Institute of New York presents the paintings by Lucy Rowan Mann. The collection, a retrospective of her work from 1953 to the present, represents an outlet of work that has changed through the years. At age 95, she continues to see the world through the eyes of a youth that brings a new freshness to her paintings.

Lucy Rowan attended Brooklyn College, where she majored in English and drama. She moved to Washington, D.C., where she studied drama with Walter Kerr and Alan Schneider. During this time, she also served as librarian for the Chinese Embassy. In 1947, she became director of the Concert Office at Juilliard. In 1970, she became the associate director of the Intermedia Institute at Automation House, where she was production manager of eleven multimedia concerts. Since 1972, she has been the executive director of the Walter W. Naumburg Foundation. Lucy Rowan is the narrator in a recording of three Kipling Just So Stories and has recorded Enoch Arden with Stephen Hough, both with Musical Heritage Records. She is married to Robert Mann, the founder and first violinist of the Juilliard String Quartet for 51 years.
