AUTHOR
by
a canary torsi
Author a participatory video installation that invites each audience member to share their memories as spectators by interacting with the project’s archive through a computer game. Forming a poetically mediated stream-of-conscious between each visitor and the archive generated by the project’s performers, visitors to the gallery will walk away with a printed transcript of their interaction.
Author is part of a trilogy*, Cast, Stage, Author, a canary torsi’s new works by interdisciplinary artist Yanira Castro to premiere for three weeks in September 2017 at three commissioning NYC venues: The Chocolate Factory Theater, Abrons Art Center, and The Invisible Dog Art Center. In an unprecedented collaboration between three venues and a single artist, this trilogy takes the form of one interactive installation and two live performance works.
* Cast at The Chocolate Factory (September 13-23)
* Stage at Abrons Arts Center (September 14-23)
WHEELOCK
by
Abraham McNally
This exhibition features work Abe made with his father at his childhood home; a Christmas tree farm in Northern Vermont. The single sculpture is made of only two materials: wood and wool. Poplar logs were cut and milled with a chainsaw on the farm’s overgrown pastures. Raw sheep fleece was collected from a local farm. These simple materials open conversations between past, present, and place. This human scale sculpture offers a personal visceral encounter: body of sculpture to body of viewer.
