This event has ended.

Marion Villeneuve’s paintings often waver between a realistic and an abstract world defined by horizontality and verticality, light and shadow, representation and perception. In her exhibition “New York City”, the artist presents recent canvases of urban landscapes. Created this year, the paintings explore various sites in Manhattan, such as Ground Zero and street perspectives of skyscrapers. Each canvas combines a mastery of light through the use of oil paint, with dramatic emotionally charged nocturnal imagery.

Marion Villeneuve was born in France in 1972. Graduating from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts et des Métiers d’Arts (ENSAAMA / Olivier de Serres, Paris), she also holds a degree in Visual Arts from Université Paris 8. She worked at the Centre Pompidou Museum, Paris for 13 years. She currently lives in Brooklyn, New York.
