Lazy Susan Gallery is pleased to announce “χαρμολύπη / Charmolipi / Mixed Feelings,” a solo exhibition of new work by Meghan Keane.
This is the artist’s debut of works on paper and new media in New York.
Keane presents compositions that explore the landscape of hopeful longing amidst the ever-present strangeness and solitude of the human experience. “Xαρμολύπη” (Charmolipi) is a compound word in Greek that is traditionally translated to “joy and sorrow.” The closest expression in English is “mixed feelings.”
First and foremost a painter, Keane has long had a closely guarded, personal drawing and printmaking practice. The throughline between her paintings and works on paper, however, has remained constant: a persistent investigation into the intimate, vulnerable, vital, and strange in life.
