This event has ended.

James Havard returns to the John Molloy Gallery with new work that further explores his “lifelong love of the substance of paint.” In Paint People, the figures have become more gestural and inhabit the frame more fully. These figures are often expressionless, as though they are trapped in some unknown void, however their composition, by way of vibrant, contrasting colors, suggests a powerful life force. Some possess a reptilian energy, while others feel familiar, if not relatable. Texture, as always, is most prominent in this series. Specifically, the shadowed lines from Havard’s abstract illusionism period have reemerged as 3 dimensional objects that he incorporates directly onto the canvas, bringing more depth to a world that is entirely his own.
