Jeremy Long’s first solo exhibition at Bowery features large paintings of figures in domestic scenes, along with a number of small and medium-sized preparatory studies for them. As intense studies of subject and form, the two sets of work equally inform each other.
These striking works reveal the artist’s struggle for a unique reality of perfect balances — an attempt, in his own words, “to expand a figure or object from within so that it can have a profound effect throughout the space of the picture.”
