For My Love, Dan and Potato Chips, Mieko Meguro presents eight new paintings and one sculptural installation. Potato chip bags are collected and flipped inside out revealing their silver lining, and then stuffed with cotton batting. Each bag of chips was eaten by Meguro during Dan Graham’s last stay at the hospital, and a few upon his return home. Through this simple gesture, each bag is transformed into a way of passing time.
Alongside the potato chips is a new painting series. Portraits of Dan Graham, all titled Dan. Each one illustrating a subtly different side of Dan Graham; laughing, smiling, bellicose, staring straight ahead and a serious Graham deep in thought. These portraits are a continuation of Meguro’s works with Graham as a subject. Meguro and Graham met over two decades ago when Graham gave a lecture in Japan that Meguro attended. Their collaboration has continued for over two decades. They were married a few years ago.
“It was my strong encounter of art. It was a pivotal moment for me and expressing passing towards art. Dan Graham’s lecture blew me away. Since then, he has been my mentor. It was like an earthquake and tsunami came to me together. Since then, I have been on a long journey in search of art.”

Mieko Meguro (b. Hokkaido, Japan) lives and works in New York, NY. Recent solo exhibitions include Greene Naftali (NY), Asia House (London, UK), and Galleria Massimo Minini, Project Room, (Brescia, Italy). Recent group exhibitions include Looking Back/The 10th White Columns Annual, Selected by Matthew Higgs, White Columns (NY), Works on Paper, Greene Naftali (NY), and We Are All Cats, Karma International (Zurich, Switzerland). Meguro is the founder and director of 3A Gallery in New York.
