This event has ended.

Anthony Philip Fine Art presents “A More Human Dwelling Place,” an exhibition of new relief sculptures by Bob Clyatt. The exhibition will be on display from June 30 through July 30, 2017. View the catalogue online here.

“A More Human Dwelling Place” examines the modern landscapes of our culture, iconography, and social discourse through a series of high relief wall sculptures. These pieces strive to present an unfiltered prism through which the viewer can see our world and contemporary issues distilled down to their basic questions, hopefully unburdening them from their own egocentric experiences and encouraging a holistic perspective.

Bob Clyatt’s reliefs eschew the quick reveal, instead encouraging in-depth engagement through contemplative viewings. These reliefs permit meditation and reflection; they also challenge us to question our own implicit responsibility to and for our circumstances without moralizing.

Clyatt’s work has been included in the permanent collections of a number of prestigious collections including Buffalo’s Burchfield Penney Museum and The Contemporary Art Museum of Sicily in Catania. This is his second solo New York exhibition and first in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

There will also be a special evening public viewing for the galleries of 56 Bogart on Friday July 21, from 6-9.
