This event has ended.

Atlantic Gallery presents the opening of Ethereal Luminescence. An exhibition of abstract expressionistic photography and mixed-media works by Peter Treiber. Ethereal Luminescence is Peter’s first solo show in New York.

After critically acclaimed shows in Pennsylvania, Peter is bringing his symphonic explosion of color, light and motion to New York. With a mixture of acrylic laminated chromogenic prints and back lit transparent prints with neon accents, these images bring to-life the pleasure and emotions of people enjoying public events such as light shows and amusement parks. Tim Higgins of The Morning Call said, “Star bursts and waves of pure light coalesce into visualized galaxies. The stylized photographs of Peter Treiber bring to mind something between electron microscopy, the painterly abstraction of Modernism, a trip through time and space or the climatic scene of 2001: A Space Odyssey.”

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Peter grew up in a family of painters and photographers. Peter started his photography career in New York City as a photo assistant and then earned a BFA degree in photography from the Art Center College of Design in California. Peter returned to New York, worked for several studios, and later became the Chief Photographer at International Nickel Inc. Eventually, Peter moved to Bethlehem, PA to work as an advertising photographer for Bethlehem Steel Corp. In 2008, after years of freelance photography, Peter published the book, Inside Bethlehem Steel: The Final Quarter Century. Treiber has exhibited widely, published two books, and has work in numerous collections including the Library of Congress.
