Senior & Shopmaker Gallery presents the opening of Edda Renouf: Structures and Fields, Drawings 2011-2017, the artist’s second exhibition at the gallery since 2013. The exhibition is comprised of four distinct bodies of drawings created over the past six years in Renouf’s characteristically reductive style: by scoring, incising, and layering her pastel compositions, Renouf reveals the organic materiality of paper.

A painter celebrated for chromatic minimal paintings and drawings of delicate intimacy, Edda Renouf was born in Mexico City in 1943 and educated in New York. With her husband, composer Alain Middleton, she has resided in Paris since 1991. Renouf’s work is found in numerous public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York; the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.; the Art Institute of Chicago; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; the Centre Pompidou in Paris; the British Museum in London, and the Australian National Gallery in Canberra.
