This event has ended.

Immerse yourself in Julian Rosefeldt’s Manifesto, opening in the Drill Hall. This expansive film installation presents a collage of artistic declarations from the past century reinterpreted as poetic monologues for a contemporary audience. Shown simultaneously on 13 massive screens, the meticulously staged scenes draw on more than 50 artist statements from visual artists, architects, choreographers, and filmmakers at early points in their career—each woven together into dramatic soliloquies that highlight specific artistic movements or schools of thought.

Academy Award-winner Cate Blanchett connects these famous texts to the humanity of everyday characters and actions in a kaleidoscopic tour-de-force of acting with depictions of a TV anchorwoman, a corporate CEO, a homeless man, a school teacher, and more. Experience each characterization individually or as a dynamic whole, when each scene coalesces into a rousing mantra that must be experienced in person for full effect.
